There are dozens of fan building strategies, made from hundreds of fan building techniques, organized by social media managers like us. They all take time, effort, and adjustments along the way. But remember building your page is like growing a garden, the more time and effort you put in – the faster your page grows!
For those of us who aren’t as patient, here are a few tips that will make a difference TODAY:
1. Use Your Marquee
It might be obvious, but it’s definately overlooked! The letter board sign in front of your business will often share weekly specials or upcoming events – we wonder why it rarely asks your customers to ‘like’ you on Facebook!?
2. Facebook Decals
Strategically placed Facebook Decals will let your customers know you have a page, and that it might be in their best interest to ‘like’ it. You can use other signage within your business (table tents, chalkboard menus, etc.) to let them know WHY they should become a fan – use incentives! We sell double sided vinyl decals displaying your custom URL, contact us for more information!
3. UPDATE!
You have to take the time EVERYDAY to look at your page – think of your business page as a living, breathing relationship between your customers. It cannot be neglected! Based on the size and audience of your page, you will want to find a rhythm with frequency of posts. 3 to 5 times a week is normally best.
4. But not too much…
You know the type…updating about what they had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! You hide them from your newsfeed! Your fans already ‘like’ you so, don’t be the annoying business page that customers unsubscribe from. Keep your posts during business hours and don’t get spammy – if you want to up the frequency, take it to Twitter!
5. Newsletter Mention
If you don’t have a database of customer email addresses, start on that first! If you do, reserve a permanent spot for your own Facebook ad in your regular email newsletter. Since you’re already in your email account, add your Facebook URL to your email signature block (AND your business cards when it’s time to order more)
6. Talk to your Customers!
Work it into everyday conversation with those you’re doing business with. Customers, suppliers, salespeople, and especially your employees. Make sure your employees are aware of your page and communicate it to your customers as well – they can be your biggest help in fan building!
These are just a few easy ways to jump start your page, but keep in mind that steady growth is made through the daily effort!
