Paula Deen, long the queen of cooking, is taking some major flack as news spreads about her repeated use of a certain racial slur and anit-Semitic jokes. She has even admitted to wanting to hire black men to pose as slaves at a Southern themed wedding.

At an estimated worth of $16 million Deen has grown her brand into a major figure in the cooking and entertainment world. This appears to be crumbling. Food Network announced Friday that it will be dropping her from its roster, Smithfield has dropped her and it appears that several companies are poised to follow suit. Among them are Wal-Mart, QVC, JCPenney, Sears Holdings and many others. Even the fate of two books, which are ready to be published, hinge on how Paula Deen recovers from this situation.

There are some who have come out in favor of Ms. Deen. Over the weekend customers have flocked to her Savannah restaurant and there has even been talk of boycotting the Food Network for their decision of discontinuing Deen programming. There have been a slew of social media sites that have sprang up in support of Paula Deen.  A newly created Facebook page called We Support Paula Deen had 373,601 likes by Tuesday morning. In contrast, a page called Boycott Paula Deen has managed to get 64 likes as of Tuesday. It was the largest Facebook page we could find in favor of boycotting Paula Deen.
