Is Facebook over?

"Let the women and children close their Facebook accounts first!"

Just kidding. Facebook isn’t going anywhere; contrary to what many blogs have been reporting this week, this news article seems to state otherwise. In fact, the writer goes on to disprove any hints of Facebook’s demise due to the fact that “There were 149.9 million Facebook users in the U.S. at the beginning of June, according to Inside Facebook. The country’s total population is 300 million.”

With half of the country signed up, can the number of Facebook users only be expected to decline? Probably not, but if any sort of long-term decline happens, we’ll have to wait and see. Besides, if Facebook suddenly becomes unpopular, what will we do with our sweet Facebook decals? (Great for storefronts!)

If anything, expect things to slow down for Facebook over the summer, just because people are outside and not on computers as often. Maybe that’s why user growth has gone down this month. On a related note, watch Facebook mobile usage skyrocket this year (time to get onboard with FB Deals!) Summertime is the absolute best time to garner out-of-town and tourist fans – we’ll post a guide on that soon.
