Parents that love their kids give them real names. Then, there are parents who only ‘like’ their kids. A week ago today, baby-naming history was made.
Like, born in Israel, was aptly named after Facebook’s popular user feature. The mother, Varit Adler, told Reuters “It’s short and sweet,” going on to say, “It’s very important to me and to my husband that the names we give our children are unique, creative, and totally new.”
She’s not the only one who thinks the name is new and creative–Like currently has 2,417 ‘likes’ on her fan page. Unfortunately, it will still take another 13 years before she’s eligible to sign-up for a Facebook account.
This isn’t the first time baby names and social media have crossed paths. Earlier this year in Egypt, a baby girl was named ‘Facebook’ after the networking site’s use during the democratic revolution.
At this rate, it won’t be long until names like Status, Wall, and Poke are commonplace…right?
