Most people are familiar with certain aspects of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), like trying to produce keyword-rich content on your site, and, in turn, getting more organic traffic from certain keyword-related searches on Google.

Keywords!

Don't forget to press the 'KeyWord' key!

It seems that more and more people are searching for things on Facebook, rather than Google – which leads to a new SEO situation – optimizing your profile page, picture descriptions, about me blurb, and status updates with keyword-rich content. We originally read this story on AllFacebook.com, and after some digging, found another great resource here, via Search Engine Watch that explains some of the basics that any page admin should follow:

If you want to keyword optimize your Facebook fan page, these are the areas that actually pull SEO elements from your page’s content for additional optimization.

Your Facebook Fan Page SEO

  • SEO title: The name of your page plus | Facebook.
  • Meta description: The name of your page plus the About description of your page, followed by | Facebook.
  • H1: The name of your page.

It turns out there’s quite a bit you can do as far as optimization goes, and if you’re the only page in your area/niche putting time into it, there shouldn’t be any problem rising to the top of Facebook’s SERPs.
